I was excited to reunite with Jewel for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards! I have worked with Jewel many times in the past for her first Rolling Stone cover and a few of her music videos. I also did her makeup for the cover of her "Spirit" album shot by celebrity photographer Matthew Rolston. For this year's Emmy Awards, Jewel walked the red carpet and was a featured performer. It was great to be able to have the opportunity to create not just one look, but two! I created a stunning deep berry red lip and shimmery, peachy, nude eye for the red carpet that complimented her pale, peachy Zuhair Murad gown. I first prepped Jewels skin with a light moisturizer then blended a liquid highlighter to the high cheek bones, down the bridge of nose, above the upper bow of the lip, and the inner corner of the eyes near the tear duct. Then I dabbed a touch of concealer under the eyes and around the mouth and blended well into the skin. Using a foundation brush I blended a liquid foundation over the entire face and neck for an even coverage. I set with a loose powder and used a warm powder foundation for a flawless finish and a healthy glow. I dusted a cheek color in a pinky peach to the apples of Jewel’s cheeks. For Jewel’s shimmery eye I applied the pale shades from the eyeshadow quad and blended over her entire eyelid. Then, using a flat eyeshadow brush I blended a soft shadow line using the soft brown in the palette. I then, blended the shimmery bronze single shadow along the lower lash line and blended it into the crease of the eyelid. After, I curled and coated her lashes with black mascara and nestled a few individual lashes for extra flair. I softly defined Jewel’s brows using a blond eyebrow pencil. For Jewel’s vibrant red carpet lip I patted on a bright cherry red lipstick with my fingertips. This way the color will look more like a stain. To deepen the shade and the shine, I applied a deep cherry lip gloss and blended with a lip brush. The more I applied, the deeper the shade last.
When it came time for Jewel to prepare for her performance at the Emmy’s I wanted to take the opportunity to change her red carpet look into something completely different. For the red carpet look it was all about a pale eye and a deep crimson lip. For the performance, I did the complete opposite. I created a soft smokey grey eye with a touch of purple and paired it with a shimmery peach lip. I lined the inside of Jewel’s eyes with a black eyeliner pencil and added a few more coats of mascara that gave her eyes a little more drama, yet not overdone.

I sent Kim a collage of images of Ava Gardner as inspiration for the look i created. I wanted to create a look that was old Hollywood glam with a touch of a modern chic. I first prepped Kim's skin with an eye cream and moistureizer, then blended a concealer under the eyes, forehead, down the center of the nose and blended well into her skin. I then applied a liquid foundation to give a subtle golden glow. I set with a finishing powder and dusted a Rose Pink powder blush to the apples of her cheeks. When I'm creating a flawless complexion on Kim, I feel she looks stunning with a little natural gleam to the skin. For the eyes I wanted to create a daytime glam. Which involved a subtle golden smokey eye, glowing complexion, and a sheer red lip. I first blended a golden bronze eyeshadow onto the entire eyelid using a matte bone color in the arch of the brow. I then lined her entire eye with a chocolate brown eyeliner, curled and coated her lashes and added a few individual eyelashes to just the ends of her eyes for an old Hollywood flare. I topped the look off with defining her lips with a neutral lip color and filled in her entire lip with a sheer Cherry red lip gloss.
